Top 5 Games

So Nick and Frosty are trying to start this meme, so here goes: My top 5 games, why I like them, and maybe some honourable mentions :)

1. Burnout Series
It’s no secret that the Burnout games are my one true love, honestly, I’m besotted. I have to admit Burnout isn’t really included since I’ve not played it much at all, but ever since Point Of Impact, I have been hooked. I have easily clocked over 250 hours on POI, Takedown and Revenge altogether (not on Live), and this summer I’m hoping to get a lot of Paradise time, getting to know Paradise City better and improving on my burnout chaining <3. There’s just something about the combination of locations, the twists, turns, rise and fall of the maps and taking out opponents that I just love. For me, the games also have great replay value. I already owned and completed Revenge on the XBox, and then I bought it for the 360 to do the same (still have a teeny bit left to do).

2. Halo Series
I love these games for the story, the memories I have of mucking about outside of the actual gameplay with friends and, well, the actual gameplay. I have another confession, Halo2 isn’t exactly one of my favourites, it’s mostly here because it made Halo3 awesome (with all that referencing back to Halo: CE, you could imagine how shallow and repetetive it might have seemed without Halo 2 being a bit different, short, and kind of sucking (just a little) in the middle. Still, I love the characters, the locations in the levels, the soundtrack, the story, pretty much everything about these games. Except the flood. Those things scare the crap out of me…

3. Fable & Fable – The Lost Chapters
I was going to mention just The Lost Chapters, but even without the extra story and gameplay I loved this game. I’ve played it through quite a few times and it never gets boring. I don’t usually like RPG style games where you have to level up your character, but I found Fable eases you into it nicely (or maybe, it’s just easy *shrug*). I like being able to take out enemies surrounding me in one big blast of Will too. I’m eagerly anticipating Fable 2, as it did seem there were things missing from Fable (but then, it had been in production for so long, I doubt fans could have waited much longer for it…), such as being able to play as a girl (!). Again, another game where the setting and scenery is lush, and I like the humour present in it.

4. Myst III
Completely different to the first three in my top 5. Simply point and click, but I adore this puzzle game. I was really chuffed to complete it, and I loved the feeling when the solution to a puzzle falls into place and you get to see the results of your hard work. Visually, this game is beautiful (and the sequels even more so). I found the mix of video footage and pre-rendered scenery really good, and again, the storyline too. I’m really looking forward to emersing myself into the Myst universe with URU, IV and V now that I have more time (and a computer with more RAM…).

5. Animal Crossing: Wild World
Despite not actually taking part in the Wild World area of the game, I’ve still managed to play and enjoy it for two years. Yes there were times when I would go away from it, due to having too much to do, but I always come back to it. I still haven’t completed it technically – there are some fish left to find, furniture etc. and I’ve only shot down Gulliver once. I love this game. I love taking a little world around with me in my pocket, but most of all I love growing hybrids. I know that’s no the main feature of the game, but that’s mainly what I’m focusing on at the moment. I like making my town beatiful, and colour-coordinating the plants around my villagers houses. Also, I have finally managed to grow every single colour – I have two blue roses now :3. I also get enjoyment out of the little stories my villagers have. We always joke that Tom Nook is some slave driving racketeer, but sometimes even the villagers hint that something is dodgey. I just love the things they come up with.

Honourable Mentions

Viva Pinata – Bright colours, chocolate and cute animals. What more could a girl want?
Doom series pre-3 - Mostly for the memories of watching Dad play these games (including TNT, Evilution, Perdition’s Gate and the Simpson’s mod). Kinda liked it for the sotry, kinda liked it for the scenery (weirdly). I’m not sure what it is about them but those were good times.
Chuckie Egg, Repton & Dragon World - some Beeb mentions for all those memories playing on it up in G&G’s little office room.
Phantom Hourglass – for being the only Zelda game for me to own and complete. It was a cute game, but I’m slightly disappointed it wasn’t longer, or lacks a little in replay value (at least for me).
Mario Kart Double Dash - I love racing games (well, unrealistic ones). Lots of fun has be had playing these with friends over the last few years.
Pokemon Pearl – like Phantom Hourglass. The only Pokemon game I’ve owned. I love it though, and I really do want to catch them all. Gutted I can’t really, without special events T_T

There are other games I could mention too, but there isn’t a lot I can say about them, other than I had fun playing them (the point of games, no?). Nominating Lizzy and EJ, when I find out where their blogs are :D

Yay! Awesome selection there Kitty. And I was hoping you were going to mention the Beeb, but I didn’t want to say anything to tarnish your thoughts about the games you should choose. I forgot to put a version of Pokemon on my honourable mentions – those games are just too damn deep for a handheld console, I don’t know how they make them, but if I had to choose it would probably be one of the latest versions – it was soo much like the original games it was awesome, and fresh at the same time :D .

I also haven’t included Mario Kart for some reason. Wonder why that didn’t jump out at me. Maybe I should add some more to my list. Some good shouts by you though :D Phourglass ftw! (It’s basically Wind Waker 2 :3)

We’re allowed to highlight or underline parts of the statutes in our books, but that’s it. No highlighting in different colours or using symbols or anything so I’ve just highlighted everything in the same colour.

It’s good about the shower but completely unecesasry, it could have just been unblocked but John reckoned he was going to get a new one anyway, but he’s apparently going to take it out of Tom’s deposit, so is being sneaky and unfair about it really. Baaaah!

alsoooo I dunno about getting my job back because Mr New Manager is a prat and keeps “promising” me my job, but then refused to honour my holidays for December, saying “ohhh it’s too early” which to me is a gigantic “I can’t be arsed to sign your holiday form because I’m not going to give you your job back” lol plus I decided that I bloody hate working there anyway so I’m quitting for good when I go home. I need to anyway to get a P45 so I don’t have to faff about with tax again. Plusssss, I only really like about 4 people there and 3 of them will be gone by the time I get back so I figured I’d just leave and make it easier.

I set up a wordpress installation on my site just to play around with it and I thought I’d honour your request since it’s entirely plausible that I may move it onto a new site if I get one.

Looks like there are two people here who are jealous because their blogs don’t have The Hoff’s image on their blogs’ submit buttons.
